NEW MULTIMEDIA ROOM – SCHOOL OF MUSIC – PAVILION ELIZABETH WIRTH

A lecture will be given by the sound engineer responsible for the concept, Mr. Joseph Myres, Kirkegaard Associates. A project currently underway by Kingston Byers, described as ‘A room with few parallels in the world’. This large room is designed specifically for acoustic research, large ensemble rehearsals and small performances. This lecture describes the acoustical design approaches that Kirkegaard’s Associates takes to a recital hall, a rehearsal room, and a space for research, discussing examples of each type of room and how these approaches are combined in the design of McGill’s MMR.
