The Marguerite-Bourgeois School Board awarded Kingston Byers inc a contract for the expansion of the Terre des Jeunes elementary school in the North-West sector of LaSalle. This project included the addition of 3 kindergarten classes, 8 regular classes, a common room with a stage, a gymnasium with all facilities and an administrative area. The building is split over two levels with a poured concrete structure along with a steel structure for the gymnasium for a total area of ​​23,000 square feet (2,135 square meters). The mechanical systems are innovative with a solar wall and heat recovery system and heat pumps. A radiant heating system is embedded in the ground floor slab to provide better comfort to the kindergarten classes and the gymnasium floor. In addition, a new electrical room connected to the Hydro-Québec grid will meet current needs and provide for the future distribution connection of the existing portion of the school. An electric charging station for cars will be installed in the parking lot. The exterior layout will allow the installation of outdoor modular games, a courtyard with furniture, 30 new parking spaces, a landscaped woodlot with trails and the rehabilitation of a portion of the playground.
